The ‘Media Wars’

I’ve been thinking about this kind of stuff a lot lately… I’m extremely glad there are folks like Dave Cullen, Sargon of Akkad, and many others out there talking about this stuff… I hope to do my part in the ongoing fight for genuine free speech on the internet with some of the projects I’m currently working on (more on this next week hopefully)…

Get ready to have your mind blown around the 25:45 mark, when Dave breaks down the basic corporate infrastructure we all generally, collectively think of as “the internet”, and explains what it will truly take to overcome the existing systems of the corporate thought police. If you’ve ever studied the music business, the entertainment industry, or just big industries in general, you’ll notice the current pyramid business model of the internet is eerily familiar…

New wordpress projects

For the past week or so I’ve begun working with a few new premium wordpress themes and plugins. Well, new to me anyways. I’m hoping to eventually start doing a few plugin reviews complete with screencast demos, but we’ll see…

I have also begun some additional work here on guymonadams.com to hopefully provide a backend “customer service” kind of area for some of my clients. I’m not sure why I haven’t already rolled my project tracking and invoicing systems into my personal website sooner… Always seem to keep my freelance stuff seperate somehow, always trying to build and test the better systems on other, somehow more “official” business sites, haha… All that’s about to change around here…

As for other projects, I’m getting pretty deep into using “Divi” from Elegant Themes as a base theme on a few. Also continuing some experimental development using other new responsive themes and plugins from ThemeForest and CodeCanyon… I usually have a very positive experience using these services to find some great, cutting edge website solutions, but sometimes it’s a real roll of the dice. They don’t generally offer “trial versions” of these things for some reason, which I’ve always found annoying…

Anyways, not sure what the full point of this update was… whatever.  *cracks knuckles*… it’s time to get back to work…
